CHIEF CORNERSTONE

Both a Foundation and an Anchor need to rest on a solid rock if they are going to be able to hold things together. The male is the foundation, but he is not the Rock. (Ephesians 2:19, emphasis added) Christ Jesus is the Rock, the Chief Cornerstone. If you are going to be a real man, a true father, you need to be resting on the Chief Cornerstone.
One of the ancient synagogues in which Jesus taught in Caesarea in the early days, they laid foundations by interlocking the stones into one another. They didn't pour concrete in those days, so they used interlocking systems. Every rock was carved in such a way that it fit into the rock next to it and they locked in place. When the foundations was nearly completed, and they were at the end of the interlocking stones, one stone had to lock into the last two stones in one corner in order to seal the whole thing together. Now that was the cornerstone, and without a cornerstone, the foundation would fall apart. Remove the cornerstone and you destroy the constructed building.

The interlocking foundation needs something to hold it secure. Jesus is the only hope for survival as a father because He is the Chief Cornerstone. The world we live in, men are busy creating companies, businesses, wealth, property and so on while their lives are falling apart. Divorcing their wives, killing themselves, their children rebelling, abusing drugs and alcohol and losing sense of what is really important in life. Having so much wealth and lives falling apart, because they have lacked an important relation with God, they are missing the Chief Cornerstone. Many of us treat God as an option, yet we need Him. To be honest, you need to want Him. He is essential in your life. It doesn't matter how important, rich or talented you think you are. God is the one holding us together. “See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame” (1 Peter 2:6)

You can't build your life on a ground that shifts when it encounters too much pressure. You will need to dig deep down and find some solid Rock, just as Jesus said in (Luke 6:47-49) Without a solid rock, no amount of skills, credentials, experience or education will save you from falling or self destruct. We need rock, not sand, or you will drift out of control and be overwhelmed. God has called men to be the anchors of their families, not just their own life. (Psalm 61:2) No matter how successful you are, you had better find the Rock because your family relies upon you for survival. Lock into Jesus and secure your foundation. (Ephesians 2:20-21)

Having the Cornerstone Gods Spirit lives in us as our internal engine, His power never fails. He always strengthens you and teach you and guides your conscience and establish your convictions so that you can reach the shore safely. The Holy Spirit will always direct and protect you both in calm and stormy seas of your life. It doesn't matter if there is darkness all around you. (Psalm 139:11-12)

Its never important what happens to you as it is what you do about what happens. When you allow God to work on your foundation, then you need to accept to go through the process. Its tedious but worth it because in the end, God will have worked on you so well and built you until He knows you can handle anything that comes your way and He won't be concerned about you crumbling. Today if you do not know who your personal Cornerstone is, do not go another day without that assurance. You need to reconnect with and submit yourself to Christ as your only Chief Cornerstone. Without Him, we are nothing. (John 15:5)

Holding on to the Rock in the midst of whatever crisis you face, your foundation will always remain sure. Paul says, you will be able to build a temple to God on it. (Ephesians 2:21) God will always dwell in a well-built life and a well-built family. Hold things together and God will dwell in that, whether its a marriage, a family, a relationship, a business, or a church. To Him, that's a Holy dwelling place.

In (Matthew 7:24-25) Jesus says that, “the rain came” not that, “the rain might come.” You must decide where you want to build your house, either on the Rock or on sand. I love this chapter in (Ecclesiastes 3:1) which has helped me on my spiritual and personal growth a lot, knowing that there is always a time for everything under the heavens. Everything in life has a season no matter what it is, sorrow or happiness. Whatever difficulties you are experiencing will not last. That means whatever you are enjoying now will probably not last. Many of you never want to hear this truth and that is why you experience depression when you lose something, you think that everything is forever. I will come to this in a later article about LOSE.

I love what Myles Munroe says, that even though we are in Christ we are not immune to storms. That's funny, right? Not really. When we look at men and women of God who are faithful in serving Him, spiritually strong, prayerful and giving huge seminars and conferences, who have built ministries and programs that preach the love of Christ, they find themselves in crises and scandals one way or the other, we tend to think that this should not happen to people like them. Well, it doesn't matter the kind of house you have, the storm will come either way, but the issue is never about the storm, but the foundation its built upon.

We experience different kinds of storms, your storms will not be the same as your friends, we all go through different struggles, how you choose to deal with them is what matters. You should be able to stand and say this is what am going through but my anchor is still holding on to Jesus, my Chief Cornerstone. For its only a season, we need to keep on believing. (Ecclesiastes 3: 1) "We are not to trust in the permanence of anything on earth except for our relationship with God. Our parents, friends, spouses, they are all seasonal. We should be prepared for a season of living without them, our hope is only on God. The eternal God is your refuge.(Deuteronomy 33:27)

Suppose your marriage is going well. Prepare now for a time when your marriage might not go well, decide what you will do when that time comes, and you will be faced with tough times. Don't panic and say that God has left you and the devil has taken over, No. That is just a season. It will come to an end. You need to learn how to handle what life throws at you. Be an anchor that is not driven by every wind and wave.

If you lost your child, or wife had a miscarriage what would you do? If they left you, what would you do? Let that season go. Get on with your life and fulfill your purpose and be the man that God created. Let the message of God come into your spirit, let His hammer come down and beat on the weak spots in your life, because you are a strong man with Christ as your Chief Cornerstone.
Behind every broken experience is a wealthy experience. There is peace in the promise that nothing earthly lasts, but the Rock is eternal. Jesus calls those who ignore His word foolish (Matthew 7:26) It doesn't matter how many academic papers you have, whether a CEO or the President, if you have not anchored yourself to the Rock that doesn't move. God did not create us to become fools, He created us to become wise.

“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a chosen and precious cornerstone, and the one who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” (1 Peter 2:6) You will not be put to shame, this is Christ promise to us. No matter what your family is going through, your business, your ministry, or your nation. Jesus tells us to anchor ourselves on the Rock, and we will not be disgraced, even when the waves crash, let them crash, we have the Chief Cornerstone for the storm.
